My pragmatic side was awakened this past weekend with a flurry of ministry. Ah, it was wonderful to no longer trudge about with a theology book in tow, hammering away at the latest paper, and conversing about what could be, should, and would be if only I wasn’t so dang busy.

When not reading theology or historical fiction (the latest being Never Call Retreat), I have been up to a major project that is bigger than I can ever imagine. I’m basically trying to turn a humongous paper from my seminary days into a book. I’m trudging through the process of finding an agent, revising and rereading and revising again, and trying to find anyone who will read it and give me feedback (I will e-mail it to you if you’re interested!).
Having just had a nice long talk with a friend about the manuscript, I’ve found that I’m having a hard time pinning down the angle/audience that I want to address. My blogs about the book process are recorded at btc.typepad.com, including my musings about my audience issues.

Ungrateful, inconsiderate, mean, snobbish, and all-around punks: these are just a few of the thoughts streaming through my self-righteous mind right now. After putting in countless hours of planning, recruiting 60-80 volunteers, shelling out over $150 in supplies, paying $25 as a sponsor, and attending planning meetings for the local community day, my church of employ received a card in the mail advertising the event. Yet in the list of sponsors, the church was mysteriously missing. GRRRRR, self-righteous anger levels approaching dangerously high point.
