Henri Nouwen
I think just about everybody who has read a Henri Nouwen book loves the guy. He’s quite a blend of scholar, pastor, counselor, and mystic. His books on contemplative prayer and servant leadership are tops on my list.
I was recently sent a link to the Henri Nouwen Society. It’s a really neat group that seeks to continue exploring the topics so near to Nouwen’s heart and ministry.
To boot, there is a conference from May 18th-20th up in Toronto filled to the gills with Nouwen scholars and those who knew him personally. The goal is to balance scholarship with thoughts on practical ministry. Now there’s a novel idea! You can read up on the conference here.
