The latest book on the coffee table these days is Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. It’s a creative and subtly hysterical story about a recluse scholar who endeavors to bring English magic back to England.
Apparently the English are fairly interested in magic, something that our Puritan forefathers probably nipped in the bud. In any case, it’s a delightful read. I would compare author Susanna Clark’s style to Jasper Fford, though she hasn’t quite reached his level yet in our estimation.
Pick it up today! It’s worth a look.
