In our former church, a very large, wealthy suburban Baptist church, the senior minister was extremely outreach-minded. The church has a wonderful gym facility that is open to the public. Nice, up-to-date workout equipment, a track, basketball court, all open to the community at no cost, and a wide variety of exercise classes (led by qualified, well-trained Christian instructors), not to mention a large recreational sports program. Many, many people have entered the church through this "back door." It's such an effective and non-threatening outreach. I love this idea.
