Off to Germany for a Week
A few months ago Julie and I began discussing the fact that her close friend in Germany will not be there much longer. We had just set aside a little extra money. We had some vacation time to burn. In a matter of days we were looking for flights to Germany.
A week or two later we had our tickets and a rough plan to visit a few friends.
So now we’re set to leave for Germany on April 11th, returning on the 19th. We have someone to feed the bunnies each day and to water our baby plants. Our bags are basically all packed. The house is in pretty good shape. The bunnies cages are as clean as they’ll tolerate.
Our plans involve a nice whirlwind of visiting with friends. We’re going to park our car outside of Boston at a friend’s house tomorrow and take a walk around the Lexington and Concord area. Then we take our plane to Dublin and on to Frankfurt.
On Sunday we’ll take a train to Marburg to do a little sight-seeing, and then on Monday we’ll take a train to see a friend in Bonn. From Bonn we go to Luneburg, just south of Hamburg. After that things get a little fuzzy, but I’m pretty much going to trust our friends to find fun things to do, good food to eat that isn’t asparagus, and eventually drop us off at Frankfurt next Saturday.
Things should be pretty quiet around here on the blog. I’ll stick all comments on moderation so the blog doesn’t get spammed while I’m gone.
I shall return with stories, pictures, and jet lag.
