Ed’s Books
I’m announcing my latest book that I’ve co-written with Derek Cooper and releases July 1st with CLC:
Hazardous: Committing to the Cost of Following Jesus
Hazardous encourages disciples of Jesus to count the steep costs of following Jesus in their daily lives by equipping them to pursue holiness, listen for God’s guidance, and obey God’s direction. A lot of books tell us that discipleship is costly, but this book shows what it looks like and how God helps us persevere in the midst of trials.

“This book convicted me that I should not expect the Christian life to be easy. This book encouraged me to see my everyday struggles as part of the very maturing process I crave from God. And so, after reading Hazardous, I found myself further along the trail of following Jesus than before I read it. I can offer no higher recommendation for a book than that.”
-David Fitch, B R Lindner Chair of Evangelical Theology, Northern Seminary and author of The End of Evangelicalism? and the forthcoming Prodigal Christianity: 10 Signposts into the Far Country
“Into a world of easy discipleship, Cooper and Cyzewski offer a bold biblical challenge: Follow Jesus. By tracing the messy lives and costly discipleship of faithful people throughout Scripture, they tell a story that is both dangerous and delightful. Readers of Hazardous will not merely be rewarded with a great read; they will be rewarded with an invitation to deeper relationship with a great Lord.”
- David T. Lamb, Biblical Seminary, author of God Behaving Badly: Is the God of the Old Testament Angry, Sexist and Racist?

Divided We Unite: Practical Christian Unity
When Jesus prayed that his followers would be one, he wasn’t setting up his future disciples for failure. In fact, the prayer of Jesus may be closer to fulfillment than many Christians in thousands of denominations suspect.
Divided We Unite: Practical Christian Unity is an E-book that helps Christians put their divisions into proper perspective and then focuses on the unity that the Holy Spirit brings.

Coffeehouse Theology: Reflecting on God in Everyday Life
Coffeehouse Theology is my book on contextual theology released in the Fall of 2008 with NavPress.

About: Coffeehouse Theology will help the reader understand, shape, and live out practical Christian theology in the postmodern context. Beginning with the relationship of cultural context and theology, Coffeehouse Theology roots theology in the church’s mission to be the presence of God’s Kingdom. Far from dividing the church, theology unites the church in a dynamic dialogue about the presence of God, his revelation in scripture, and the interpretations of the historic and global churches.

“Coffeehouse Theology is the perfect antidote for the increasing distance between academic theology and everyday life. With wit and grace, Cyzewski shows how theology not only connects us with God but also moves us out of ourselves into loving ministry next door and around the world. This is the ideal text for adult Sunday school classes and home discussion groups.”
- William Dyrness of Fuller Theological Seminary
“Ed Cyzewski is uniquely capable of providing an account of the challenges facing Christian ministry and witness in the contemporary setting and clear and practical assistance for communities seeking fresh expressions of the Christian faith in the context of postmodern culture.”
- John Franke of Biblical Theological Seminary
A Path to Publishing: What I Learned by Publishing a Nonfiction Book
A Path to Publishing is a big-picture guide for nonfiction publishing hopefuls. Beginning with mental preparation for writing and building a platform, I help readers develop their ideas, write regularly, pitch a proposal, and market their work. Through accounts of my experiences, a series of case studies, and action steps, each chapter moves readers toward the final goal of becoming published writers.
“I haven’t seen a single more helpful resource for writers hoping to enter the publishing fray.” -Rachelle Gardner, Literary Agent, WordServe Literary Group
“If you’ve ever dreamed about becoming a published book author, read this book.” -David Sanford, award-winning author, editor, writing coach, and former literary agent with Credo Communications, LLC

The Southshire Pepper-Pot
A collection of short stories from a group of writers in Southwest Vermont, many of whom belong to the Southshire Roundtable. I contributed "A Bittersweet Land" to this anthology.
Reviews (via)
"Southshire Pepper-Pot is a tasty book, filled with delicious stories to be munched on slowly with a glass of wine. This is just the kind of book I love to discover and savor with recipes that top off a full- course meal of literary victuals"
- Bill Morgan, Beat Chronicler and author of I Celebrate Myself: The Somewhat Private Life of Alllen Ginsberg and Howl on Trial: The Battle for Free Expression
"Southshire Roundtable has given us a tasty literary treat, a rich menu of deliciously seasoned prose and poetry that will satisfy the appetite of all who enjoy a good read. The short stories are delicious tales inhabited by people we immediately empathize with as well as by unique characters who appeal to our fascination with the strange and mysterious. The essays too are remarkably diverse nostalgic pieces about local places served side by side with insightful accounts of such faraway locations as the Middle East and Key West. The talented writers represented here are proof positive that literature of the first order is alive and well in our area."
- Lea Newman, Bennington, Vermont; Professor Emerita, MCLA and author of Robert Frost: the People, Places and Stories behind his New England Poetry and Growing Up Italian in Chicago
